WIPpet Wednesday

It is WIPpet Wednesday. Many thanks to Emily Witt, who initiated this wonderful WIPpet gathering.   I am still running behind. I now have a large container in my driveway. I am almost finished with clearing out my basement.

So, it is time for me to share the books I have read, the books I am reading, and what I plan to read in the future and my WIPpet for this week.

So, here goes:

  • What have I read?

The Miracle of Small Things By Guilie Castillo-Oriard

What am I reading?

I haven’t started on anything. Getting my basement clear and keeping up with my writing are priorities one and two.

  • What do I plan to read next?

Christine’s Odyssey (Simms Siblings Series by J.L. Campbell, and Broken Pieces by Kathleen Long

My WIPpet: I am continuing with the novel that I am writing and revising on Wattpad.

(My math is simple: June is the sixth month, and I have six paragraphs.

A little bit of history from last week: They are still at the Gala. Daniel attends for the first time. He hears Phoebe sing her first set and feels inspired. Now the band is taking a break and Phoebe heads to their table not knowing that Daniel is a part of the party. The last line from last week was,

“Here, she comes,” Peter said. “Maybe, we should put what happen today aside until the appropriate time.”

***

“Yes, I agree. I don’t want our singer walking out because someone asks her why she’s not on stage,” Kirk said, sarcastically and looked at Daniel.

“Kirk, that’s not fair. Give me a chance to correct my mistake.”

“Mistakes, Boss,” Maria said.

“Okay, agreed, mistakes.”

As Phoebe approached the table, her eyes widened as she regarded the one person she didn’t expect to see gazing at her.

“Is something wrong, Phoebe?” Daniel asked, forcing her to look at him.

That’s it, folks.

Until next week,

Shalom aleichem,

WIPpet Wednesday
Hello Everyone,

It is WIPpet Wednesday. Many thanks to Emily Witt who initiated this wonderful WIPpet gathering.   I am still running behind. I now have a large container in my driveway. Everything has to be moved from my office to the container so that they can put in new floors and doors. Besides that, I have two short stories that I am preparing to submit to different publications, so my plate is running over.

So, it is time for me to share the books I have read, the books I am reading, and what I plan to read in the future, and my WIPpet for this week.

So, here goes:

  • What have I read?

I haven’t completed any of the books below because of storms and flooding.

What am I reading?

The Miracle of Small Things by Guilie Castillo-Oriard (I’ll be posting a book review on this one, this coming Friday or Saturday.

  • What do I plan to read next?

Christine’s Odyssey (Simms Siblings Series by J.L. Campbell, and Broken Pieces by Kathleen Long

My WIPpet: I am continuing with the novel that I am writing and revising on Wattpad.

(My math is simple. 6+22= 28 sentences.

A little bit of history from last week- Daniel appears at the Benefit’s Gala. Something that he doesn’t do, but this year Maria, his administrative assistant, talked him into it. Phoebe doesn’t know Daniel is going to be attending.

WIPpet:

The Cabaret evening, sponsored by the Commerce Department, drew people from every branch of the business community. For the past two years, Daniel had not been attending. Instead, he had sent Kirk, Peter, Roberta, Maria, and their spouses as his representatives. A man who shuns the lights of high society, an enjoyable evening for Daniel was playing a game of chess with Kirk or Peter or babysitting for their children. After his disastrous relationship with Shirley, he lost the desire to pursue any woman. Nowadays, he was the pursued and not the pursuer. Thus, he sat around the exquisitely made mahogany oval table looking at his friends and their spouses with suppressed melancholy.

“You ladies look very nice this evening,” Daniel said as he looked at Roberta, Maria and the wives from Kirk and Peter.

“I’d say,” said Peter. “They’re all very attractive.”

“Darling, you’d say that even if I were wearing a flour sack,” Sue said, and the table broke out into laughter.

“Shh, Phoebe is getting ready to walk out on stage,” Kirk said. “I want to hear Phoebe, now.”

Daniel looked at Kirk with a question in his eyes, and Hannah, Kirk wife, caught it. “Kirk is as protective of Phoebe as a mother bear with her cub, and he’s very proud of her,” Hannah said.

“And you aren’t jealous?” Daniel asked.

“Nope. I’m not Daniel. You have to get to know Phoebe. She’s a woman that I admire and respect, and I know my hubby is in good hands with her.”

“Shh,” said Kirk.

They looked toward the stage where Phoebe’s combo had taken their places. Piano, drums, contrabass, and saxophone. As they began to play their instrumental, Daniel once again looked over the group and his glance stop at Maria. His personal admin assistant sat there with her eyes closed as her body moved slightly to the music. It was a Gershwin song, Summertime, and Daniel wondered how Phoebe voice would mix with the musicians that were playing it extremely well. Suddenly, he heard a deep dark, voice, softly rising and increasing in crescendo. The voice rang out in clarity and washed over Daniel’s soul. Amazed at the richness of Phoebe’s voice, Daniel closed his eyes and let her sounds permeate his soul.

My god, she’s touched me.

The tension he’d faced throughout the day left leave him, and he sat back, chained by her voice.

“She’s beautiful,” Daniel murmured when the first set was over.

“That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you all along, Boss,” Maria said.

“Here, she comes,” Peter said. “Maybe, we should put what happen today aside until the appropriate time.”

***

That’s all folks.

Until next week,

Shalom aleichem

WIPpet Wednesday
Hello Everyone,

It is WIPpet Wednesday. Many thanks to Emily Witt who initiated this wonderful WIPpet gathering.   I am running behind. The rain is continuing to rip through Germany. Last night, the city of Hanau, which is about eight kilometers from me flooded. It is raining now. The situation is extremely precarious here. Even the weather experts are loss for words. I have not yet managed to acknowledge your comments. Please be patience, since the flood in my office, I am in the process of going through my insurance to get things repaired. Needless to say, my entire wooded floors are now garbage. However, the good thing is that I am fine and thankful.

So, it is time for me to share the books I have read, the books I am reading, and what I plan to read in the future, and my WIPpet for this week.

So, here goes:

  • What have I read?

I haven’t completed any of the books below because of storms and flooding.

What am I reading?

  • What do I plan to read next?

Christine’s Odyssey (Simms Siblings Series by J.L. Campbell, and Broken Pieces by Kathleen Long

My WIPpet: I am continuing with the novel that I am writing on Wattpad. Even though I have not yet posted my revisions, I am revising it so that it can hopefully get more exposures.

(My math is kind of screwed up but it worked for me, 15-6=9, and then 9-2=7 paragraphs.

Summary: Peter is still talking on the phone with Maria about the lunch with Phoebe before she connects him Daniel. This is the wrap up of their conversation. Maria asks Peter if Phoebe knows about the relationship that binds Kirk, Daniel and him together.

***

"Well, I'm hoping for the best. One more question: Does Phoebe know that the Boss is going to be there?"

"Yes, she knows.  Kirk and I told her over lunch. And before you ask, she also knows that Kirk, Daniel, and I go way back to our years in secondary school."

"How did she take it?"

"Not good. She feels betrayed."

"Of course, she does. I would too if I was in her situation.  Kirk has been like a big brother to her."

"I know, Maria, but Phoebe's got to understand that all of us want the best for her. Nobody's trying to hurt her. Isn't that obvious?"

"How would you feel if you were in her shoes?" I don't expect you to answer the question but just to about it!" Maria said. "Now, hold on, I'll put you through to the Boss."

That’s it folks. Have a great day.

Until next week,

Shalom aleichem,

WIPpet Wednesday
Hello Everyone,

It is WIPpet Wednesday. Many thanks to Emily Witt who initiated this wonderful WIPpet gathering.   I am running behind again. Even though, I do manage to visit all the blogs, I have not yet managed to acknowledge your comments. Please be patience, my office flooded last Monday during the heavy storms in Germany.

So, it is time for me to share the books I have read, the books I am reading, and what I plan to read in the future, and my WIPpet for this week.

So, here goes:

  • What have I read?

I haven’t completed any of the books below because of the storms and flooding.

What am I reading?

  • What do I plan to read next?

Background to my WIPpet: Maria is talking with Peter on the phone. For cohesiveness and clarity, I have put the last line of the snippet from last week where Peter calls Daniel’s office to give him feedback in italics. (Calculation: 8+6= 14 lines)

      "Maria, is Daniel free?"

"Sure.  In fact, he's waiting impatiently for your call. How did it go?"

    "Phoebe isn't budging."

    "Should I talk to her?"

"No, I don't think that will help. Daniel has pissed her off often, but I've never seen her react like this. Over lunch, she pointed out to Kirk and me, that we work for a monster."

    Maria chuckled in the background.

"Well, we do work for him, but he's not a monster.  Those two keep reading one another wrongly. What do you think about Roberta?"

"I didn't think about Roberta, Maria, but that might be a good idea.  After all, Roberta is the godmother of the quads, and I need to let her know what's going on."

"I can call her if you want me to."

"No, let me do it. I'll see you tonight at the Cabaret Dinner Benefit Gala."

That's it people. Have a great week and drop me a line. I respond twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays.

Shalom aleichem,

WIPpet Wednesday
Hello Everyone,

It is WIPpet Wednesday and first of all many thanks to Emily Witt who initiated this WIPpet gathering.  Now it is time for me to share the books I have read, the books I am reading, and what I plan to read in the future, and my WIPpet for this week.

So, here goes:

  • What have I read?

The Sign of the Green Dragon by C. Lee McKenzie

What am I reading?

The Miracle of Small Things by Guilie Castillo-Oriard

  • What do I plan to read next?

Christine’s Odyssey (Simms Siblings Series by J.L. Campbell, and Broken Pieces by Kathleen Long

Background to my WIPpet: Daniel returns from a Marketing Meeting he’s had with his acquisition team, which Phoebe, Kirk, and Peter were a part of. Before the meeting, Peter and Kirk had had lunch with Phoebe to talk her out of resigning. (Calculation: 7= 1+6)

***

At three p.m. Maria was checking the budgeting figures, Daniel had brought back from the Marketing Meeting and he had practically thrown them at her.

She recalculated the columns of figures, amazed at Phoebe's precise calculations.  The estimated cost analysis for the new merger would cut back on advertisement costs, ensuring employee redundancy stayed below five percent and the fifty percent subsidized meals for employees in the cafeteria was still in the budget.

Great, Phoebe, she thought as she saw Phoebe’s next suggestion.

Phoebe had suggested putting a cap on management salaries for the next three years until an outside management consultant could judge whether the methods they had used had brought a positive effect.

This woman is a smart cookie; she thought as she answered her telephone.

"Maria, is Daniel free?"

That’s it, people.
