The fastest and most destructive weapon in the world is the tongue, if we do not learn to control it. No wonder James wrote that we should learn to tame our tongues. But this does not only mean learning how to speak well about others. No it goes much deeper. The person who controls his tongue also protects his heart from bitterness and critical judgments that often tear down layer for layer or brick for brick ,the strong towers of good relationships. And even more than that, a controlled tongue which is a sign of power brings about peace and displays wisdom. Proverbs 17:27 states that he that hath knowledge spareth his words and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Thus, as we are walking through this weekend, let us be careful and think before we speak and not use our tongues to ignite a fire that would burn a bridge that we may later regret. Again, let me quote one of my favorite Proverbs from chapter 17 out of the King James Version, "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding".
Have a great weekend everyone, be blessed, and I will see you in church.
