Sticking with your dream is most difficult when you are experiencing hard times. The will to keep going, keep moving, keep looking straight ahead somehow or another get bogged down into quicksand that is sucking you downward minute by minute. However, these moments in life, whether we want to accept them or not, are the most important moments of our lives. These are the moments that we think back on after we have made it. These are the moments that brighten our lives and cause us to have a certain glow that no one can explain, and that glow is called, I made it!
However, to get to reach that point, you have to stick to your dream. It will cost you something, and don't look at your bank account, because the currency that you need cannot be bought by any currency. No, this currency is called endurance. It is that stick to it, never gives up petrol that makes you keep plunging your way forward through doubts, self-pity, pain, and laziness until your dream has become reality. It is the endurance currency that really counts. That means doing the thing that you know you have been called to do by moving towards it. If it is writing, then you have to keep writing, if it is singing, keep singing, if it is working on your degree, then keep studying. You say that sounds difficult. Well, it is. Because doing tasks while shaking in your boots mean you are chasing away self-pity, overcoming pain by accepting it and continuing on your journey no matter what the circumstance. Sometimes you may be in tears, but keep writing, or find yourself fasting to receive clarity, then do it, but whatever you do, don't stop working on your dream. Do something everyday, even if it is only for a few minutes. Nothing good or lasting is ever achieved in one day. It does take time.
So where can we find the fuel called endurance and how can we pay for it? That is the hard part. You see, the more you endure, the more endurance you receive. It is a paradox that no one understands but it is so. It is the same with other elements that money cannot buy. You want faith, then fight through your doubts, you want to succeed, then accept your failures and keep going, you want to be forgiven, then, practice forgiveness. In all of these inalienable qualities, the key is sticking with it, not giving up, staying your course, and the fuel of endurance increases until you have a full tank.
As it says in the Bible––the book that I have based my faith upon:
So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere (endure) so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.[1]
Therefore, hang in there the night is almost gone.
Be Blessed.
Shalom!
